Pushing to the Limits
Great people did it
Over this period I juiced predominantly a CABALA juice –Carrots, Apple (yellow), Beetroot, Apple (green), Lemon and Apple (red). I’m not sure if my apples were yellow or just light greeny/yellow, but I did my best to get this combination.
I didn’t get any come down effects such as headaches or cravings for food and I put that down to the fact that I have completed a couple of short fasts (of 3-5 days) in the past and also realise that our bodies are extremely clever and the mind is even more powerful at directing our behaviour if we allow it to be. I have to admit though, that writing the blog made it easier for me to be committed as I knew I’d have to tell you all!

Over this period, I drank 1-3 litres of water per day and sometimes made a pot of herbal tea to enjoy at my desk. One time I added a teaspoon of honey to the cup and another time I added maple syrup to see if I felt any different but didn’t note anything particular.
Initially I continued to use my juicer to try new recipes such as hummus, babaganoush (egg plant dip) and bliss balls (mixture of nuts, dates, goji berries and rolled in coconut, sesame seeds and puffed brown rice) which I’d serve to friends and also put the tiniest bit in my mouth where I’d chew it and then spit it out so I could taste the creations.D

During this stage I had noticed that my weight was on a smooth descent and on day 19 I realised a 10kg drop in body weight. I didn’t start this fast for that reason and seeing such a large weight loss (I went from 72.8kg to 62.7kg) I decided to finish day 20 and go on to juices.
Once I’d made that decision, there was a sense of relief that I was going to be tasting, creating and cooking again. Apparently as humans, we make decisions for emotional reasons and justify with logic, and I would say that I was looking for a reason to stop the fast as I was so incredibly bored not being able to create.

Back to the Future … Ancient Wisdom revisited
A stupendous insight of civilisations past has now
been confirmed by today's investigative, nutritional
sciences. They have shown that what was once
called "The Doctrine of Signatures" was
astoundingly correct. Referred to in the classical
period of Rome as the "Law of Similarities" it is
now called by scientists, "Teleological Nutritional
Targeting".
It now contends that every whole food has a
pattern that resembles a body organ or
physiological function and that this pattern acts as
a signal or sign as to the benefit the food provides
the eater
