DEFINITION

*“Psychological barriers are the mental,emotional, cerebral or cognitive hurdles that prevent from communicating effectively.”

RESEARCH*Research conducted by “National Alliance on Mental Illness” shows that:* 1 in 4 students have a mental illness.* 40% do not seek help

*Depression is the no.1 reason students drop out of school,college or universities.*It is caused by a chemical imbalance in our brain.*SYMPTOMS: * feelings of sadness * change in weight * feelings of guilt * frustration for no distinct reason.

*Anxiety is caused by: * genetics * stress * past experience * fear of failureSYMPTOMS: * extreme worry * tiredness * muscle tension * powerless

*Eating disorders are prominent among college students.*It is irrational craving for or avoidance of food.

Confused Thinking

*Confusion in students is aslo a pschological hurdle.

*Suicide is the 3rd leading cause of death in the world.*People who die by suicide are experiencing untreated depression.*We can say that last stage of depression is suicide.

May be I’m abused,should I quit??

SURVEYAccording to a survey conducted by Association for university and College Counseling Center Directors : * 36.4% of students reported they experienced some level of depression in 2013 * More than 45% of students stopped attending college because of Mental health problems.

SURVEY*People ages b/w 12-25 represent 95% of those with eating disorders.*According to a report in 2011,10% of college students has thought about or made a plan to commit suicide.*B/W ages 15-25,,8.7% students commit suicide.

CONCLUSION

*Mental illness hinders the study of students.*College or university life is stressful time

for students but here is a tip….RELAX RELAX RELAX*If students don’t underestimate themselves,they would do better.*Psychological illness is very common in people.
