Whenever there is any requirement of blood which the blood banks in the city fail to satisfy, we requested them to forward it over to us. emergency blood helpline has been working since then taking up all emergency blood requests that come up. Every time the donor went to donate, he/she was doubtful about his/her safety. Is this the right place to donate? Am I safe? Will they sell my blood? These questions were raised frequently and there were no sure answers.. Each party blew it's own trumpet. We explored, we studied and we came up with solution. We came up with information that answers the donor's questions and ensures the safest of all donations. The blood banks across the country face a problem in delivering good quality of service to the people. They are many time unable to deliver the gift of life. To ensure safe and sustainable supply of blood it was realized that enrollment of Voluntary Non-remunerative blood donors was a must. People wanted to donate blood. But there was little organized help to conduct camps. We are working on the road to 100% Voluntary Non- Remunerative Blood donation. We are slowly changing attitudes. we are slowly pushing in reforms. We are providing help, but at the same time we are empowering people to help themselves.

ROUND TABLE INDIA

Welcome to the wonderful world of Tabling. Centuries ago in medieval , King Arthur headed a group of brave Knights called the 'Round Table'. WHY DONATE BLOOD ?Blood is the part of life that is given to those who need it by those who have the resource to satisfy the need. The love of fellow human and a desire to share something of oneself is what singles out a blood donor from the others. Emergencies occur every minute. For each patient requiring blood, it is an emergency and the patients could have set back if blood is not available.

Your blood donation may be even more special than you realizeA single donation from you can help one or more patients. This is possible because whole blood is made up of several useful components. These components perform special functions in your body and in the body of patients who receive your blood. The various blood componentsare Red Blood Cells, White Blood Cells, Platelets, Plasma and selected Plasma Proteins. Each of these components can be separated from your donated volume of blood and transfused into a specific patient requiring that particular component. Thus, many can benefit from one unit of blood.

Blood is needed every minuteTo replace blood lost because of accidents or diseases. To treat shock due to injury. For Major & Minor surgeries including open heart surgeries, transplants etc.For burn victims. For patients suffering from Anemia.During child birth for the mother. For exchange transfusion for new born infants. To make blood derivatives which are used to treat medical problems. For children suffering from ailments like Thalassaemia, Hemophilia (bleeding disorders) , Leukemia, Blood Cancer.

History of BloodA Roman doctor named Galen believed that blood was formed in the liver and was unaware that the heart pumped blood through the arteries and veins. It wasn’t until the 1600’s that it was discovered blood circulates throughout the body, pumped by the heart.

White Blood Cells Defend the Body Against Disease & InfectionWhite blood cells are the body’s defense system. There are three types of white blood cells: granulocytes, lymphocytes and monocytes. They all fight infection from bacteria, viruses and microbes that can cause diseases.

Blood Circulation & RespirationOne complete round trip will take, on average only 30 to 45 seconds. And, even less during exercise. The human body has so many miles of blood vessels inside of it that they could encircle the earth twice, then a little bit more.

Platelets & Blood Vessel RepairPlatelets are small pieces of cell material, or cytoplasm, whose job it is to plug holes in vessel walls. They look like two plates stuck together, but when they are helping to form a clot, they change shape. In the event of a tear inside a blood vessel wall millions of platelets respond to the injury, throwing themselves over the cut. They stick to the wound's edges and to each other to form a plug that slows the loss of blood within three to five minutes.

Blood Types & ActivityThere are four different human blood groups: O, A, B and AB. Groups A and B have certain inherited antigens, or markers, on their red blood cells. The most common blood types iare A Rh positive and O Rh positive… about 72 percent of the population is one or the other. The rarest blood type is AB Rh negative.
