Challenges…A brief outline of the overall Challenges

An haunting task for healthcare professionals is to hold back the exponentially growing cost & to Improve upon operational efficiencies.

Its observed that the average waiting time for patients has steadily gone up due to the increasing shortage of healthcare workers. Automation of analog manual processes, will help address the staffing shortage through improved information capture and sharing.

Another uphill task for the industry is to comply with critical healthcare compliances like HIPAA and making investments in computer systems and software and their security more important than ever.

Absence of necessary patient information and medical reference knowledge in the hands of medial decision makers at the point of clinical decision making is a critical challenge that threats the quality of medical care.

There is an increased trend in the search of online medication with collaboration sites like Mayo clinic that empowers end users to wards self medication and treatment. The challenge ahead for healthcare professionals, providers of self-medication products, and government agencies is to have a responsible framework in place for self-medication.

Page 6: Presentation conference

Competition for healthcare professionals and consumer business is making it imperative that healthcare providers extend state-of-the-art software and hardware to its employees and ultimately its patients.

The Underinsured will a bigger challenge than the Uninsured. It's quite a possibility that business operations will come to depend upon technology and processes prevalent retail, banking and credit industries to effectively manage the underinsured.

Security of critical infrastructure—networks, PCs, servers, databases, and more—becomes more difficult as many healthcare organization extend beyond hospitals to neighborhood clinics, home-health providers, and off-site services such as radiology interpretation and medical transcribers.

Information security: Millions of patients are at risk for medical and financial identity fraud due to inadequate information security. Health information exchanges take form, millions of patient records – soon to be available as digital files – will lead to potential unauthorized access, violation of new data breach laws and exposure to the threat of medical and financial identity theft.

Challenges with Physicians

Physicians have difficulty in finding real time access to

clinical information , patient reports etc as they depend on

the legacy systems

No coordination between the disparate patient care

systems

Its difficult to refer to patient information and reports

stored in discrete databases and that can result in delayed

or poor diagnosis

Lag in clinical decision making and patient care due to

multiple login waste precious time of physicians as well result in inefficient care

Lack of a consolidated wiki page or a medical Feeds

where the physicians can take reference for new medical advancement or treatment

techniques

Page 11: Presentation conference

Challenges with Patients

Patients find it really difficult

to get information on

physicians availability and

appointment schedules

sitting at home

Access to a consolidated

reports database from

where they can

upload/download or view

their clinical reports

The source of information

for awareness about new

diseases, prevention

techniques and health

related information

Rising healthcare expenses

and challenges in Medical

reimbursement is a pain for

patients

Lack of information and awareness about patient rights and health related

compliances by which they can claim incentives due to

medical error

Page 12: Presentation conference

Challenges with Partners and associates

The suppliers of medical equipment

lack collaboration to have a check

on the inventory or the medical

stocks and hence deliver the

requirements real time

Absence of a source of knowledge

on the changing medical needs and

hence a fast adoption in delivering

to the changing needs

To enhance transparency among key

stakeholders, such as community

boards, government regulators and

employees and patients there is need

for integrated risk management, internal

control and compliance system

Lack of a collaborative platform for

the interactions with Healthcare

associations; partners and

healthcare organizations for

discussions on issues and mutual

information exchange

Lack of a collaborative platform

for pharma vendors to create

general public awareness about

new pharmaceutical

breakthrough and research

Page 13: Presentation conference

Challenges with health insurance

Internal controls need to be

tightened and hospital staff

need to be more informed and

educated on the implication of

tricking and abuse to avoid

penalties.

Lack of coordination between

pharmaceutical companies and

payers ultimately increases

costs, and devalues patient

utilization of treatment.

Insurers lack platform to

convey policies real-time for

rendering care during

outbreaks and offer guidance

to members, employers and

brokers.
