DESCRIPTION
This powerpoint presentation talks about 'what is Pocket Psychology?' and why it was developed. I started out designing a tool for athletes/coaches and sport psychologists, then an Uncle suggested that 'regular people' might benefit from general psychology tracks, and then a counselling psych colleague suggested her clients might like something more health-oriented. I was encouraged to add spoken words to the music and printed words on the series, so now at least those without screens or the facility to view video can at least hear the words and music and still benefit from the tracks. It's really inexpensive - I wanted to make something that was accessible to everyone! Check it out - http://www.pocketpsychology,com.au/ (Please note: this is the new website address - not the one in the slideshow.) Thanks. Michelle

How do you ‘get into somebody’s head’ to give them a clue as to what are the most productive thoughts and behaviours?
How do you make it really affordable for athletes to access good advice as to ‘what to do next’?
How do you make it easy to access advice from a sport psychologist, even if you live in a rural or remote location?
Or if you are touring the world, away from regular contact with family and friends...?
Or it’s the middle of the night, and you’re worried about the match coming up the next day?
How do you make material for athletes that won’t need specialised equipment?
Or that they won’t accidentally leave behind?
Or that athletes can use before, after, or even during competition?
How do you settle their minds enough so they can take in new information?
How do you make material that appeals to Generation Y athletes...
...but is easy enough for anyone of any age to use?
How do you give them material that is really short and easy to understand?
Or cue them in to music so they’ll start to feel more focused and in control right from the start?
How do you make material that doesn’t shout
‘loser’
...you could be accessing everyday stuff like music, and no-one would ever know they were getting sport psychology tips...
I believe this innovation is something that should be made available to athletes in any sport, at any level...
