Types of Hormones

There are four types of hormones› Steroids hormones› Lipid hormones› Amino acid hormones› Protein hormones

Steroid hormones

Are derived from cholesterol. The most common steroid hormones

are › Sex hormones› Glycocorticoid› Mineralocorticoids

Amino Acid Hormones

Derived from protein and are vital for the brain function.

The amino acid hormone acts as a neurotransmitter.

Lipid hormones

Lipid hormones derived from lipid which are fat cells.

The main focus for lipid hormones is to send messages to nearby hormones

Protein hormones

Derived from protein cells and functions to tell other glands to create more hormones and regulate metabolism function.

Hormones Found in Food

Although hormones are found in animals, plants, and humans, hormones are added to food commonly consumed by humans with the exception of soy products.

For example in dairy products, meat, and soy products.

Why are they added to your food ?

Young animals are given hormones to stimulate faster weight gain and reduce the amount of feed eaten by animals before slaughtered in meat industries

In dairy cows, hormones are given to increase production of milk by the cow.

As a result, meat and dairy industries are making bank.

All Natural in Soy

Soy products contain the hormone phyto-estrogen, which resembles the hormone estrogen.

When consumed, the phyto-estrogen fools the body in thinking it is estrogen.

As a result, more estrogen is found in the human body.

Cow Milk Hormones

Hormones are added to cows to produce more milk opposed to muscle tissue.

Cows are given rbGH or IGHF-1 hormones . In 1993 the FDA and NIH allowed bovine growth hormone to used in cows.

Both rbGH and IGHF-1 protein hormones have been found in high levels in people having colon, breast, and prostate cancers.
