Identify and describe the measures/indicators of health and well-being
You may be asked to describe the indicators of health and well being
You may also be asked to give examplesE.G. Being satisfied with life may include, having a balance of healthy activities and a good work life balance
We should be aiming to have a healthy, active balanced lifestyle
BUT How do we know if we are? You will use some measures or indicators to assess this
How satisfied do you feel about your life as a whole? It doesn’t mean you are happy 100% of the time, about
everything But to be healthy and balanced you should feel
satisfied and happy with most things in your life
How often do you feel positive about life? And how often negative?
The more positive, the likelihood is you have a healthy and balanced life, mentally and physically
Feelings or activities you do may have a big impact on how you feel
E.G. Playing sport may make you feel happy and excited, as your with friends doing something you enjoy
E.G. Drinking too much alcohol or taking illegal drugs may have a short term high, but long term will affect how you feel and therefore your health and well being
Do you have space around you Living in overcrowded conditions or having no space or
vegetation around you will make you feel less good This will affect your health and well being
Those who are active in many ways are often happiest This is not always true, but normally a person that has a
variety of interests will have a better view of themselves and of others
Feeling happy and optimistic about the future, as well as useful will mean you are more likely to have a positive mental health
If you are more relaxed, are normally more interested in others and deal with problems well, this is also considered positive mental health
