A Quick Look• This act is going to make health care

available for about 32 million more Americans.

• It also is going to require every citizen to have health care by 2014 or they could face a fine

• The affordable health care act allows people to choose a plan that is either privately owned or ran by the government

• The citizen can also purchase a plan from a state based agency

• These acts are going to add 940 billion dollars in the federal budget during the first 10 years

• A study by the congressional budget office says that this act will also lower the budget deficit by 143 billion dollars during these 10 years

• This Act was designed to offsets its costs by lowering payments to hospitals, increasing Medicare tax payments from higher income households, and consolidating the higher education loan program with the Pell Grant program.

Opposition to the acts• The American Association of

Neurological Surgeons (AANS) and Congress of Neurological Surgeons (CNS) announced their opposition to the “Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act

• These people think that the major problems of our health care are still not fixed in these new acts

• The think that it will put the government between the doctors and the patient making it more difficult to get the needed care

• Gerald E. Rodts, president of the CNS says this will just be a burden to most Americans

Pros of the acts• It is Estimated that the net total

decline of 237 billion dollars will occur in the budget during 2010-2019

• People can receive credits to help them pay for the health care

• You can keep your current coverage if you already have it

• With a government program, this could induce more competition in the private health care industry causing them to lower prices

• All children and adults up to the age of 26 can stay under there parents plan now until they can get there own

• The acts also have more programs in it to train more doctors to meet the new demand of patients

• They also cover preventative care, and this would help more people out of the hospital by catching illnesses before they get bad

Lets make everyone happy!This Health care could help a lot of Americans living in poverty stay

healthy for a much longer time. And with the economic condition of today this is also a opportunity to create a lot more jobs and get the unemployment rate down!
