This program was developed specifically for communities and populations that

are vulnerable to floods. Its target audience is adult citizens.

This program’s goals are to:

• Provide flood safety and recovery information to the public that is easy to access and understand;

• Advise the general public of the hazards that exist after a flooding disaster and how to avoid them; and

•Assist victims of flooding in returning to their homes, workplaces or schools as safely and quickly as possible.

This program’s objectives are to:

• Give adult citizens the tools and knowledge they require during the aftermath of floods or flash floods.

• Provide steps to be taken after a flooding disaster in order to preserve life, property and overall health and safety.

•This program provides useful information (electronic and printable) for those who are displaced, evacuated, injured or have experienced damage due to flooding.•Information will focus on health and safety, flood-related risks, cleanup measures, road safety and flood insurance resources. •Up-to-date listings for charitable organizations, local healthcare providers, crisis hotlines and shelters are included.

•Social media will be utilized to market this program, including the following sites: Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and YouTube. Each of these sites will contain links to the official website and mobile app. •Information booths and kiosks for the “Dealing With Disaster” program will be featured at health and safety fairs, craft festivals and shopping centers. •Printed information will be made available in public libraries and local government offices.

The “Dealing With Disaster” program’s mission is to be available and connected with those in need via the web, email, phone or in person. Its collaborations with local libraries, charitable organizations, government agencies and emergency management further extend the program’s ability to reach its audience.
