Milk in Tetra Pak

Milk in Tetra Pak is the milk that is filled into the six-layered Tetra Pak cartons. Ultra High Temperature-treated milk simply means that the milk has been heated to a very high temperature for a brief period; however, ensuring the milk’s taste and nutrition remains intact

Tetra Pack Milk Tetra Pack Milk has to pass through heating and cooling stages in quick

successions. It is then immediately filled into a sterile Tetra Pak carton which is shelf safe. With UHT, the shelf life of milk in Tetra Pak cartons increases and the milk can last up to 4 to 6 months when the carton remains sealed. However, once opened, the milk carton needs to be refrigerated and consumed within 5 days from opening the seal

Tetra Pak Milk vs. Fresh Milk • Tetra Pak Milk vs. Fresh Milk: Milk that is UHT treated is exposed to very

brief yet intense heating temperatures. These temperatures are in the range of 135 to 137 degree Celsius for three seconds. Because it is a continuous process, it takes place in closed systems, keeping the beverage safe from contamination by airborne micro-organisms. UHT milk has to pass through heating and cooling stages in quick successions. It is then immediately filled into a sterile Tetra Pak carton which is shelf safe.

• Therefore, when compared with each other, UHT milk stands out as it has a longer shelf life, does not require boiling, and one can be assured that they are drinking pure milk.

Disadvantage of Tetra Pak In the pasteurisation process, milk is heated to 72 to 75 degrees Celsius for 15 to 20 seconds before it is cooled. Pasteurised milk has a shorter shelf life when compared to UHT milk, the basic reason for which is that pasteurised milk needs to be maintained at a constant temperature of 4 degrees Celsius even during distribution

Benefits of Carton Milk • UHT milk has a much longer shelf life. • It doesn’t need refrigeration, unless the carton has been opened. • Does not require boiling, hence avoids killing healthy bacteria • No Loss of nutritional properties during its long validity.
