This four-phase process will guide you through the elements of career planning, including self-understanding, exploring a variety of medical careers, and finally choosing a specialty to meet your career objectives. The University of Sussex was the first of the new wave of universities founded in the 1960s, receiving its Royal Charter in August 1961. Nearly 50 years on, the University has become a leading teaching and research institution. In the 2008 Times Higher Education University World Rankings, Sussex was ranked in the top 20 in the UK, the top 50 in Europe, and the top 150 worldwide.

Study FieldThis is a unique one year programmed, primarily for students who do not meet the academic entry requirements for direct entry into the degrees offered at our affiliate medical schools in the Caribbean and mainland Europe. The programmed also provides a suitable route for students who wish to enter a medical school in the UK or other countries. The programmed is taught at the University of

Sussex, where students are registered in the School of Life Sciences. Although the programmed is not offered by the Brighton & Sussex Medical School (BSMS), BSMS will consider applicants from the programmed. The University of Sussex cooperates in administering the programmed alongside M&D Europe (UK) Ltd. through which applications must be made.

Sussex has one of the most beautiful campus locations in Britain. Situated in rolling parkland on the edge of Brighton, the campus combines award-winning architecture with green open spaces. The campus is surrounded by the South Downs National Park, but just a few minutes away from the lively city of Brighton and Hove.

Designed by Sir Basil Spence, the buildings that make up the heart of the campus were given listed building status in 1993. Falmer House is one of only two educational buildings in the UK to be Grade I listed in recognition of its exceptional interest.

Personal CharacteristicsThe M&D Experience was set up by a group of doctors, academics and other medical professionals who wanted to expose potential students to the reality of medical schools and medical careers. We organize one day medical career conferences held at well respected NHS teaching hospitals for students who are considering a career in medicine. Our aim is not to overtly promote medicine but

to arm our students with the information and experience required to make an informed choice.

Students on the M&D Pre-Med may be able to make use of these events depending on when they are scheduled. Students may also find it useful to attend even after they have submitted their UCAS application to medical or dental schools as it proves to be an excellent talking point at interview.Please contact us for further information
