What are the Matses?

The Matses are a Native American tribe in South America. The Matses in Peru have a big problem.

What’s the problem?

The Matses’ problem is that they’re all dying from diseases and have no vaccination for it.

What diseases did they have?

The disease they are dying from is called malaria.dictionary.com definition of malaria:any of a group of diseases, usually intermittent or remittent, characterized by attacks of chills, fever, and sweating: formerly supposed to be due to swamp exhalations but now known to be cased by a parasitic protozoan, which is transferred to the human bloodstream by a mosquito of the genus Anopheles and which occupies and destroys red blood cells.

Why don’t they have vaccinations?

They can’t have vaccinations because the government won’t let them. The government wants them to die, so they can have all of the oil (which is their biggest natural resource), and the Matses live where the oil is

How will you help?

Our solution is…

We can try to help the Matses by doing this:

We will go and find someone who can speak the Matses’ language and someone they can trust. They will ask the Matses if they can give up their richest oil part. In exchange, they will give the Matses vaccinations.
