WHAT DID YOU CONSIST OF?

My work consists of transporting people from one place to another in order to feed my family with what I earn from the passengers.

What tools did you use? Why?He used very few tools like a boat and two oars.

EXPLAIN AN ORDINARY DAY IN YOUR LIFE

I wake when the sun rises. My wife had already done the day before breakfast, lunch and dinner because I always come back when the sun is no longer there. Usually, I spend one day to transport about twenty people. In the morning is when I transport most of the people. I do not go far away from the coast because my boat is not comfortable at times.

I wake when the sun rises and I am going to work.

What did you eat?

My wife almost always made me bread with ham what it was delicious!!!!

HOW MUCH DID YOU EARN?

Boatmen usually has a salary every month, which is enough to feed their family.

I work on top of a boat carrying people and occasionally repairing the boat.

Where did you work? Was it in the openair? Or in a workshop? Describe your workplace?

There are two people working for me on two other boats.

Who did you work for?

Working for a rich merchant who had many entrepreneurs.

Did you enjoy your job? Did you think it was useful?

I really enjoyed and I felt very useful because with what I earned, I could feed me and my family.

How many orders did you have in a day?

On a day I used to have about twenty people, but on Saturdays and Sundays was between forty and fifty.

WHO WERE YOUR CUSTOMERS?

My clients are not usually very rich although sometimes I had some. The rich were some nasty people around and always gave great tips.

I used the same clothes that when I was down the street.

Did you wear any safety clothing? Which ones?

• I do not use any safety clothing because it is too expensive and even to allow it was for the richest, although it is very dangerous.

Did you have a permanent hour to finish your work?

I am always back at home when the sun sets, sometimes I like speaking with the other workers.

How many hours did you work in a day?

We worked about fifteen hours each day, including Saturday and Sunday.

It was hard because I work too much, I sail and I meet new people.

Did you like it? Why?

I like very much because I meet new people and also because I like sailing

and traveling.

I bought my boat to a rich merchant. I gave the boat in exchange for two chickens and a roof rack.

Could women also do this job?

The women could not work in this job because they thought it was too dangerous to put a woman sailing a boat. Although it

was not true.

At what age did you start working? Was there an age of retirement?

• I started working when I was seven years like many others who were not rich.

• People died when they were between forty and forty-five years old.
