What is a Low Carb Diet?
A low carb diet or also known as low-carbohydrate diet is a dietary program that restricts a person from consuming carbohydrate for the purpose of weight control or for treatment of obesity. In a low carb diet, foods rich in digestible carbs such as bread and pasta are being replaced with foods rich in proteins and fats such as meat, poultry products, eggs, soy, etc. as well as foods with low carbohydrate content such as fruits and vegetables.
A diet can already be considered low carb if it has less than 50 to 60% of carb ration. Low carb diets come in many forms so if you plan on going on a low carb diet, it would be best to seek help from a dietician to make sure that you find out which type of low carb diet will work best for you.
