2012 Kolling Knowledge (KK) is an annual series of free health events held at the new research building which houses the Kolling Institute of Medical Research at Royal North Shore Hospital, St Leonards. In response to demand from the local community and healthcare professionals, the Kolling Foundation and KK Ambassador, Dr John D’Arcy, will launch this series of 10 events in May 2012. Covering a range of important health topics, each event aims to inform on best practice management for particular conditions and share highlights of future research directions. [email protected] or 02 9926 4904 Kolling Knowledge Ambassador Dr. John D’Arcy A family physician who also has more than 30 years broadcasting experience, Dr John D’Arcy is the health editor of Seven Network’s Sunrise, reports for Sunday Night, contributes a weekly column for New Idea magazine and is executive producer of Health Matters with Dr John D’Arcy, a national radio program broadcast by Southern Cross Media to 33 regional radio stations throughout Australia. Medical research is vital to improve healthcare in the community and our quality of life. Established in 1920, the Kolling Institute of Medical Research is the oldest medical research institute in NSW and houses the largest and most comprehensive tumour bank in the state. A collaboration of more than 200 researchers is focused on bringing knowledge from the bench top to the bedside by translating laboratory discoveries into improved patient care. Sharing knowledge to improve health today and for the future. Researchers at the Kolling Institute have been at the forefront of medical discovery in areas such as pregnancy and childbirth, cancer and genetics, bone and joint diseases, kidney and heart disease, pain and neurological disorders and tissue regeneration.
