Each participant must sign the Participant Waiver Form prior to your cleanup. Keep
Bartow Beautiful must receive a form from each participant for our records.

What should
volunteers bring?
For a Keep Bartow Beautiful organized
cleanup, vests (when needed),
gloves, and trash bags will be
supplied. Bottled water is advisable.
Team leaders should provide first-aid-kits.

High-topped work boots with non-skid soles will help prevent slips and falls. Long pants, and long sleeved shirts and
gloves are a must. During hunting season, and/or
along roads, neon colored vests should be worn. Sunscreen and insect
repellant should be applied before going into
the field.

People should work in teams or pairs. That way if
someone gets hurt, someone is
there to help or get help. Also let your volunteers know where to find the
first-aid-kit. An adult should
always be present!

A trash poker or long tongs could be helpful
but do not puncture aerosol cans as they
may explode.
Be careful of broken glass and other
dangerous items.
Stay alert.

Watch out for poison ivy or other noxious weeds.
Volunteers should be reminded of the need for
Insect Repellant (Mosquitoes and West Nile
Virus), Sunscreen to prevent Sunburn, and to tuck their pant legs into
their socks to help prevent TICK bites.

Hazardous MaterialsDo not pick up syringes or hypodermic
needles, animal carcasses, or heavy, large or hazardous materials.

Volunteers should alert the adult leader who will
then report these items to Bartow
County Code Enforcement
Officer @ 770/387-5145.
Work only during daylight hours. If it’s raining or has rained
remember that the banks can be slippery.
Volunteers should watch where they walk. Also
Do not “horse around” or do anything to purposely distract drivers if along the road way.
Avoid insects such as fire ants, yellow jackets, wasps, etc. Also, be aware of and avoid animals such as snakes, possums and
raccoons.
