Ultherapy is an entirely new type of non-surgical treatment for the face and neck that uses ultrasound to safely lift, tighten, and tone your skin. It takes less than an 90 minutes and there is no downtime. You can even go out after the procedure that evening and no one will know!

What is Ultherapy?



Focused ultrasound energy is delivered non-invasively and selectively using a smooth applicator placed on top of your skin, similar to other ultrasound procedures. It quickly and precisely heats the tissue below the surface to gradually stimulate the creation of new collagen. This is done around the eyes, cheeks and upper neck to improve your skin from the inside out without disrupting the surface of your skin.

How does it work?



A good candidate is someone with skin that has ‘relaxed’ to the point of looking, and often feeling, less firm. Optimal candidates are between the ages 30 – 65 with mild to moderate skin laxity. The only contraindication is for women who are pregnant or lactating.

Who is a candidate for Ultherapy?



Signs of laxity on the forehead include: brow descent, excess skin/hooding on the lids and a less open-eyed appearance.

Signs of laxity in the cheek and neck areas include: flattening of the mid-cheek, nasolabial folds, “marionette” lines on chin (downturned mouth), loss of jawline angularity, jowls and sagging under the chin.

What are some signs of aging on the face?



Lasers treat the superficial layers of the skin (e.g. fine lines, wrinkles, pigment changes).

Ultherapy is the only non-surgical treatment that uses ultrasound imaging to see below the surface of the skin and precisely target the same deep tissue and foundational tissue that doctors would typically address in cosmetic surgery.

How is Ultherapy different from laser treatments?

An Ultherapy treatment takes between 30 – 90 minutes depending on the areas being treated:

• Upper face = 30 minutes• Lower face & neck = 60 minutes• Full face & neck = 90 minutes

How long does the treatment take?



There can be some toning and firming immediately following the treatment, but the full lifting and tightening effect will build gradually over the course of three - six months. Some factors affecting treatment response include: skin laxity, volume, skin quality, age and lifestyle/health.

Clinical results have shown that most people only need one treatment. In cases where people have more severe laxity and/or volume multiple treatments may be necessary. This should be determined and discussed with your doctor during your consultation.

How many treatments will I need?



The new, healthy collagen results last over a year! Patients typically come in for a treatment once every 12-18 months.

Since your skin does continue to age during this time patients also benefit from yearly touch-up treatments to help slow down the rate of skin aging.

How long do the results last?



Comfort thresholds do vary from person-to-person. Although there can be some discomfort while the energy is being delivered, this is temporary and a sign that the collagen-building process has been initiated. Patients typically leave comfortable and excited to see the results!

Does it hurt?



There is no downtime for this treatment so you can return to normal activities immediately.

If you are fair-skinned, your skin may appear a little flushed/pink during treatment, but this disappears within an hour or so. Some patients may experience slight swelling or tenderness to the touch for a few days or weeks, but these are mild and temporary in nature.

Do I have to do anything special afterwards?



Is Ultherapy safe?


Absolutely! Ultrasound has been used for over 50 years and the device we use for this particular treatment has been cleared by the FDA.
