There is no such thing as a “safe” tan. Sunburned skin is not the only sign of sun damage. Any change in the color of your skin or freckles is the result of damage to the top layer of skin. This includes suntans and dark spots.

Most skin cancer is caused by too much UV exposure. In the early stages, it usually resembles a freckle or a mole that can sometimes change in size, shape or color. Regular visits to your dermatologist will improve your chances of catching skin cancer in its early stages when it’s easily treatable.
