Keratosis pilaris is a common skin condition that causes rough patches of small, pimple-like bumps. It usually occurs on the arms, legs, thighs and cheeks. The bumps are painless, but difficult to treat. Keratosis pilaris is often genetic and usually disappears by age 30.

Chickenpox is caused by the varicella virus. Most people will get chickenpox at least once in their lives if they have not been vaccinated. Folliculitis is an infection of the hair follicles. It’s usually caused by bacteria or fungus, and can be characterized by pimple-like sores with a hair in the center of each. You can develop folliculitis from using a pool or hot tub that hasn’t been treated properly with chlorine, wearing tight clothing or using pore-clogging products over a period of time.
