When you start on the Paleo diet, you are going to have to give a few things up. The good news is that for most people after they get through the first week of eating in a new way they find themselves feeling refreshed, re-energized, and more focused than they have been in years. The bad news is that to feel that way you still have to get through that first week, and it can be a toughie. Your body is used to getting all sorts of sweets, treats, and goodies that your tastebuds have gotten used to so when you ask your body to eat in a different way those tastebuds are going to let you know that this is not the way that they are used to eating.

This doesn't mean that you have to give up everything that you love, you do need to enjoy your life after all. What it does mean is that you will have to hone in on those healthy foods that you already like and try to base your meals primarily around those. Then as you get further and further into the Paleo lifestyle and your tastebuds start to change you can begin to try more new recipes.

Still though, that first week is a toughie. So how do you get through the first week on Paleo without losing your mind? Luckily, there are a few simple tricks that can make you a success.

Plan Your Meals Ahead of Time

Page 3: How to Stick to the Paleo Diet and Loose Weight

One of the biggest differences between success and failure is the planning process. Whether it is at work or in life people who don't plan don't usually succeed. Remember, your body is used to eating a certain way and it is going to want to continue to eat that way. You have to have a strategy in place to combat those cravings and set yourself up for success.

A simple way to do this is to make it a point to sit down and plan all of your meals for the next week in advance. This isn't just your recipes but any drinks you might want as well. Write all of your ingredients down on a grocery list and buy them all a day or two before you start.

It is also a good idea to get into the habit of setting aside one day a week to plan your meals.

Another way to plan for your success is to find people that have been in your shoes or are going through the same thing that you are going through. Remember, this first week on Paleo is going to be so worth it and it is an amazing gift that you are giving yourself. But at first it is going to be hard and you need all of the support that you can get. You want to have someone there that you can talk to, share your triumphs with, bounce ideas off of, or even just talk about your cravings with.

Luckily there are many Paleo forums, Paleo Facebook Pages, and Paleo blogs where you can get all of the support you need to be successful as you are starting your journey into Paleo.

Clean Those Cupboards

The last thing you want to do is a biggie. You need to go through your cabinets and clean out all of the bad stuff that you find in there. Anything that has sugar, is processed, or comes in a can you will want to take a look at. It is hard to get rid of the things that you are used to eating, especially when you have already paid for them, but there is no better way to make sure that you are eating right than to get rid of all of your wrong eating options.

More than anything though, just remember that you can do this and you can be a success. Once you learn the simple rules of eating Paleo, you will be able to come up with new recipes, find new foods that you like, and best of all lose weight and feel amazing. Yes, the first week on Paleo is hard, the first week on any diet is hard, but once you get through that first week you will never want to look back.

Paleo Recipe for Spaghetti Squash

How to Cook Spaghetti Squash The Easy Way

• Wash and dry the spaghetti squash. • Put the entire thing on a baking sheet. (I would recommend lining it with some foil) • Cook at 400 degrees F for about 30-45 minutes, depending on how big your squash is.• After taking it out of the oven, take a knife and cut it in half. Be careful: do not put

your face near the squash. There will be some steam coming out at you! • Use a spoon and scoop out the seeds. It might help to also use a scissor to cut some

of the strands that connect the seeds.

• Use a fork and separate the strands. The flesh will come right off!
