HOLIDAY THOUGHTS RENDERED, 2013

To some it’s amusing, to others a curseTo discover a letter at year’s end in verse. After a dearth of news briefs, rhyming or not, We’re sharing some updates, poetically wrought.

In 2011, under clinical stress, Spyros changed jobs, and I must confessI dreaded the thought of leaving the Berks, A comforting home with a wide range of perqs.  With tears in our eyes, we bid friends adieu, And moved to the suburbs we once did eschew. Our kids went to school and Spyros commuted, And lo! in brief months the deep grief was diluted.

Our rusty but roomy grand house called for work(From calling it old—it’s my age!—I do shirk.)That work does still beckon, a full two years hence, We’re not sure what’s worse: the dust or expense.  Both kids are in sports, as are their peers. Hoops are their choice, as they have been for years. They hang with their friends (though they don’t hang their clothes), Life with two teens: I guess that’s how it goes.

Spyros is much more relaxed with this job, Though he misses his patients, his weekends now throbWith movies and children and music—you see, He’s learning piano—his newest hobby.  Ulysses and Casey are pawing around, Ulysses with vigor, but Casey is found Most often in bed, sleeping for hours.Still, we are charmed by their cute canine powers.

As for my updates, they’re mainly of age(Tips and tricks welcome re: how to assuage!). I have a home office and clients and work, And I try to learn Greek—yes, a curious quirk.

Another year, fleeting, has slipped to the pastWith trials and joys, and memories vast. To family and friends, we send holiday greetingsWith genuine hopes for more in-person meetings!

With warmest holiday wishes,

είναι δύσκολο!
