Types and levels of a disease

Page 2: Highway to health

THERE ARE MANY COMMON DISEASES THAT A PERSON FACES EG:DIARROHEA

ON THE BASIS OF TIME SPAN WE CAN CLASSIFY DISEASE AS:

1. CHRONIC DISEASE2. ACUTE DISEASE3. ENDEMIC DISEASE4. EPIDEMIC DISEASE5. PANDEMIC DISEASE

Page 3: Highway to health

ON THE BASIS OF CAUSE OF DISEASE:

1. DISEASE CAUSED DUE TO INFECTIOUS AGENT OR PATHOGEN IS CALLED A COMMUNICABLE OR INFECTIOUS DISEASE. IT SPREADS BY TOUCHING OR USING PERSONEL ITEMS OF THE INFECTED PERSON. THEY ARE CAUSED DUE TO MICROBES LIKE FUNGI, BACTERIA, ETC. THEY SPREAD QUICKLY AND WIDELY IN NOT WELL MAINTAINED PLACES. EG: INFLUENZA, DYSENTRY.

2. DISEASE CAUSED DUE TO INTERNAL PROBLEMS OR NON INFECTIOUS REASON IS CALLED AS NON COMMUNIBLE DISEASE. THEY DO NOT SPRED BU USING PERSONAL ITEMS OF THE SUFFERING PERSON. THESE DISEASES ARE RESTRICTED TO THE AFFECTED PERSON. IT MOSTLY HAPPENS DUE TO SOME GENETIC ERRORS OR PROBLEMS, WEAR OUT OF TISSUES ETC.

EG: ARTHRITIES OR DEFICIENCY DISEASES SUCH AS NIGHT BLINDNESS.

INFECTIOUS DISEASE SPREAD DUE TO PATHOGENS AND OTHER MICROBES.

BUT THERE ARE OTHER FACTORS ALSO THAT CONTRIBUTE TO CAUSE OF A DISEASE.

DISEASES GENERALLY HAVE MORE THAN ONE CAUSE.

THERE IS AN IMMEDIATE CAUSE AND OTHER CONTRIBUTORY CAUSES

Stephen William Hawking, (born 8 January 1942) is a British theoretical physicist and author. His significant scientific works to date have been a collaboration with Roger Penrose on theorems on gravitational singularities in the framework of general relativity, and the theoretical prediction that black holes should emit radiation, often called Hawking radiation.

Hawking has a motor neurone disease that is related to amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), a condition that has progressed over the years. As of 2012, he is almost completely paralysed and communicates through a speech generating device. Hawking's illness has progressed more slowly than typical cases of ALS: survival for more than 10 years after diagnosis is uncommon.Symptoms of the disorder first appeared while he was enrolled at the University of Cambridge, when he lost his balance and fell down a flight of stairs, hitting his head. The diagnosis of motor neurone disease came when Hawking was 21, just after he had met Jane Wilde, who was to become his first wife; doctors said they did not expect him to survive for long. From 1974 he could not feed himself or get out of bed, and so graduate students helped, receiving free accommodation in return

He describes himself as lucky, as the slow progression of his disease has allowed him time to make influential discoveries and has not hindered him from having, in his own words, "a very attractive family".
