Life   sciences   companies   have   strong   health   values.   They  

are  dedicated  to  eradicaGng  disease,  improving  quality  of  

life,   finding   new   cures   for   medical   condi7ons   and   giving  

people  hope  where  there  is  none.  

 

How  is  the  other  side  of  the  coin?  What  about  employees  

in  life  science  and  their  jobs?  Are  their  jobs  healthy?

AT  WORK  (1)  

Work   on   your   agenda.   Health   ac7vi7es   must   be   planned   and  included  in  your  agenda  as  priority  ac7vi7es.  

Time  opGmizaGon  &  ProducGvity  increase.  The  90-­‐minutes  tech-­‐free  approach,  or  avoiding  to  deal  with  emails  for  a  defined  7meframe  are  effec7ve  strategies  to  increase  your  produc7vity.  

Plan  ahead.  When  repeatedly  travelling  and  dining  out  for  business,  it  is  possible   to  avoid  unnecessary  unhealthy  habits  by  planning  around  your  meals  and  physical  ac7vi7es.

AT  WORK  (2)  

Use  every  opportunity.  Standing  at  mee7ngs,  walking  to  a  colleague  for  communica7ons  rather  than  sending  mul7ple  emails  can  be  effec7ve  strategies  to  increase  physical  ac7vi7es.  

Set  boundaries.  Don’t  overextend  yourself.  Learn  how  to  say  “NO”  to  requests  on  your  7me.  If  you  find  this  difficult,  remind  yourself  that  saying  “NO”  allows  you  to  say  “YES”  to  the  things  that  you  truly  want  to  do.  

Find  a  buddy.  Planning   to  do   ac7vi7es  with   a   colleague  during   lunch  breaks  or  aZer  working  hours  increase  commitment  due  to  accountability.

OUTSIDE  WORK  (1)  

Start   the   day  with   a   relaxing   ritual.  Rather   jumping   out   of   bed   as  soon  as  you  wake  up,  spend  at   least  fiZeen  minutes  medita7ng,  wri7ng   in  your  journal,  doing  gentle  stretches,  or  reading  something  that  inspires  you.  

Adopt  healthy  eaGng,  exercising,  and  sleeping  habits.  When  you  eat  right,  engage  in  regular  physical  ac7vity,  and  get  plenty  of  rest,  you  have  the  energy  and  resilience  to  deal  with  life’s  hurdles  and  demands.  

Take  a  daily  break  from  technology.  Set  a  7me  each  day  when  you  completely  disconnect.  Put  away  your  laptop,  turn  off  your  phone,  and  stop  checking  email.

OUTSIDE  WORK  (2)  

Nourish   your   creaGvity.   Try   something   new,   exit   from   your   comfort  zone  and  experience  new  ac7vi7es  that  have  nothing  to  do  with  work.  

Learn  how  to  manage  stress.  Use  relaxa7on  techniques  strategies  to  manage  stress.  

Find  a  buddy.  Planning  to  do  ac7vi7es  with  a  friend  increase  the  sense  of  commitment.
