Hair Loss: Causes and its Treatments http://www.hairsg.com What is hair loss? In every part of our body, hair grows everywhere except on the palms of our hands and the soles of our feet, but most of it are so fine and almost invisible. According to Webmd.com, Hair is made up of protein called keratin that is produced in hair follicles in the outer layer of skin. As follicles produce new hair cells, old cells are being pushed out through the surface of the skin at the rate of about six inches a year. What we see in our hair is actually a string of dead keratin cells. An average adult mostly have 100,000 to 150,000 hairs and may lose up to 100 a day. Hair is growing on a person’s scalp about 90% where each follicle has its own life cycle which can be influenced by age, disease, and other factors. This life cycle is divided into three phases: Anagen – active hair growth that lasts between two to six years Catagen – transitional hair growth that lasts two to three weeks Telogen – resting phase that lasts about two to three months; at the end of the resting phase the hair is shed and a new hair replaces it and the growing cycle starts again As people grows older, the rate of hair growth is falling. Causes of Hair Fall There are several factors that may cause hair loss.

hair, they believe they aren’t as manly or attractive any more.

Alternative cosmetic treatments are also available:Hair-fibre powders: Color, powdery fiber sprinkles are commercially available and may work to camouflage balding areas.
