Challenges and constraints• The geopolitical situation in several countries• Inadequate managerial capacity coupled with the

multiple competing priorities in some countries• Inadequate attention to or visibility of the immunization

goals other than polio eradication• Inadequate allocation of domestic resources • Inadequate vaccine registration and procurement

systems• Inadequate social mobilization and demand creation• Weak surveillance systems for vaccine-preventable

diseases and poor immunization data quality in some countries

Page 18: Global vaccine action plan

The Global Vaccine Action Plan18

Priority actions

• EMVAP proposes a list of priority actions for each strategic objective

• Priority actions are tailored to address:– the current situation of immunization

programmes in the Region– specificities and challenges currently faced by

the Region

Page 19: Global vaccine action plan

The Global Vaccine Action Plan19

Monitoring and evaluation framework

• EMVAP 20162020 proposes a monitoring and evaluation framework with specific indicators for:– monitoring implementation of the priority actions

of the different strategic objectives– monitoring progress towards achieving the goals

of the plan– reporting to the Regional Committee annually on

the progress made and remaining challenges

Page 20: Global vaccine action plan

The Global Vaccine Action Plan20

What is expected from Member States• Renewing commitments to immunization programmes• Providing input to and endorsing EMVAP 20162020 • Using EMVAP as a framework for developing and

updating the comprehensive multiyear plans (cMYP) for immunization in order to achieve the regional immunization goals

• Allocating and mobilizing resources necessary for implementation of EMVAP 20162020
