Manuscripts.
• What are Manuscripts?
• A Manuscript (abbreviated MS for singular and MSS for plural) is any document written by hand.
• Before the arrival of printing, all documents and books were manuscripts.
Armenian Manuscript
Types of Manuscripts.
• With Mathematical calculations.• With Maps.• With explanatory figures and illustrations.
• They also might be in:• Book form, Scrolls or in Codex form.
Medical Manuscripts.
• The pioneer and founder of GMM scientific research was a physician Lado Kotetishvili, who described,analysed and studied the most important GMM stored in various libraries .
• Some of the manuscripts that were discovered by him are:
• Tseegni Saakimoi(medical manual)• Ladigar Daudi• Ustsoro Karabadini.
• Professor Mikheil Shengelia,together with Ilia Abuladze published in 1950 the First,general part of the “MEDICAL TREATMENT MANUAL-Karabadini” by great physician ZAZA PANASKERTELI.
• In 1976,prof Mikheil Shengelia and a team of researchers ,started a very responsible work dedicated to the description of GMM.

• Total number of Manuscripts:
• K.Kekelidze state institute of Manuscripts, academy of Sciences of GEORGIA-341 GMM
• Sanct-Petersburg institute of oriental studies-30 GMM.
• And the rest all institutions have 158 GMM.
• So, totally they are 529 GMM’s totally.
The glossary from each of the Manuscript is united and made one common Glossary of Diseases,which contains the list of the diseases according to the frequency rate:Headache-500pointache-422pain in cardiac area-318coughing-379epilepsy-217wounds-284529 Georgian medical Manuscripts contain thousands of prescriptions which are using simple ingredients from 350 medicinal plants and animal products and mineral products.
• Books:1)USTSORO KARABADINIWritten by famous Georgian physician ZAZA PANASKERTELI in tenth century.It tells us mainly about the 4 age periods of human life:1 childhood-birth to 17 years2 yellow bile period-17-35 years3 black bile period- 35-54 years4 phlegm period- 54 to death.

• 2)TSEEGNI SAAKIMOThis medicinal book was written in 13th century,and it provides a very good information about the description of physiological differences between child,an adult and elderly peoples.It clearly pronounces the heart beat of chlidren and the adults and the elderly people.
3)IADIGAR DAUDIThis book was written by Georgian king David XI, in 16th century,and the author says that the book was written based on three ARAB sources
or references.
