The Current Obesity Epidemic:– Why Care?

2 out of 3 US adults are overweight or obese.

The current generation is the first in our history expected to have a shorter life span. (Thanks mom & dad)

We spend over $150 billion annually on direct medical costs related to obesity.

The Good News…

It’s 100% reversible. We don’t need big gov’t to solve this. We don’t need big pharma to solve

this. The solution starts in the mirror.

It Can’t be that easy

It is! It’s about simplicity. It’s about honesty. It’s about awareness. It’s about holding ourselves

accountable to our “why”. It’s about removing the emotion of

weight loss and focus on the facts.

The Ground Rules

I don’t judge but would encourage you to judge yourself.

The 4 medically accepted terms I use are fat, over weight, obese and morbidly obese.

There are 2 good things about being fat: Everyone knows it. You have 100% control to change it.

Why People are Fat

The reason is the same for 99% of those who are overweight or obese: Under estimate calorie consumption. Over estimate calorie expenditure.

The solutions are as unique as the individuals themselves – Yeah!

My Observations

Failure: It’s part of it just like it is in anything else in life. Embrace it!

Progress: It’s undervalued & our expectations are way out of line.

The Stories: aka EXCUSES. Becoming deaf to logic. Emotion guides too many decisions. Search for the magic bullet.
