Societal Misconceptions

• Most think they eat healthy
Most people think it’s about the calories, it’s on every menu now.
When it comes to storing fat, it’s about the chemical reactions, and what
direction those chemical reactions are going. For example, there are
gates that are one-way gates for storing fat, and everything you eat
carbohydrate-wise gets converted into fat and stored in the fat cell,.
The body holds on to that fat as long as the patient is insulin resistant.
High levels of insulin lock that gate open in a one-way direction.
Not addressing the underlying reason you’re fat in the first place.
It’s Not About the Calories
When you’re young, you have lots of hormones and can eat 5 or 6
thousand calories a day and not gain an ounce because they’re loaded with
healthy hormones to regulate your metabolism, and close those gates for
storing fat.
A significant role for hormones is to regulate metabolism and close those gates for storing fat. That’s what estrogen does, it stops and plugs up that gate by inhibiting the enzyme called lipoprotein lipase. It’s an insulin sensitizer so it helps to allow one to be more sensitive to insulin as opposed to insulin resistance.
It’s Not About the Calories (cont.)
When we have insulin resistance, the signal of insulin, the job of insulin
is to store fat and create insulation. Fat is a great insulator. That’s where
insulin gets its word. You need to shut off insulin by using your
hormones, testosterone in guys, lowers their insulin resistance, and
estrogen in women lowers her insulin resistance. The more estrogen a
woman has, the more attractive she will be physically, better muscle
tone, mass and definition, better hair, better skin, better gum tissue,
flatter stomach, formed, firm breast tissue.
Insulin Resistance
Not only does estrogen improve insulin resistance, it up regulates, the
size, the number, and the speed at which the mitochondria burn fat in the
muscles. This also occurs in the brain and the heart, so your heart works
better, less stress on the heart, less arrhythmias, less chance of
cardiovascular disease. The neurons in the brain work better, better
clarity, better focus, better mood, better sleep. Everything improves
because estrogen regulates mitochondrial function in the brain as well.
Insulin Resistance (cont.)
You have to exercise for an hour or two to burn a thousand calories. You
can have a thousand calories in a slice of cake and now you just blew it.
You can get fat off a Tic-Tac if you have no metabolism. The role of
exercise is to literally pump blood through the ovaries, bringing nutrition
there, protein and other substrates and fat to manufacture the hormones.
Women who exercise have their hormones to help them burn fat. It’s not
the exercise that’s burning the fat, it’s the estrogen that burns the fat.
What About Exercise?
Anytime you starve yourself, you deprive your ovaries the ability to
make hormones and healthy levels of estrogen. You deprive the brain
from the ability to make neurotransmitters resulting in depression,
insulin resistance, anxiety, etc.
Without estrogen, women will lose muscle mass when they starve instead
of fat. A woman can lose 20 pounds but if it’s muscle, when she eats
again, she will gain that weight back not as muscle, but as fat.
Starving
Estrogen dominance is ALWAYS an estrogen deficiency disease.
Estrogen dominance exists when a woman has lots of estrogen, or some estrogen and no progesterone production. Progesterone’s release happens only when a woman ovulates. A woman will only ovulate if she gets enough estrogen to signal the brain, the pituitary, to cause it to send out LH at high enough levels to trigger ovulation. If a woman ovulates, she’ll produce progesterone. Women who are low on estrogen won’t trigger ovulation but they’ll have estrogen in the system without progesterone. This is what creates estrogen dominance.
