EULabCap monitoring system
Aims to
• assess and monitor the laboratory capacities and capabilities in the 30 EU/EEA countries
• identify public health microbiology strengths and vulnerabilities
• identify priorities for improvements
• monitor the impact of capacity support activities and health system reforms at national and EU level on essential public health functions provided by microbiology laboratories.

Since the last NMFP14 meeting, May 2016
EULabCap 2013 - EU/EEA report revised and Erratum posted “At the request of the countries, data reporting errors in 2013 indicator scores were corrected retrospectively in 2016. This resulted in small changes of the EU mean of nine indicator scores and an increase in the average EULabCap index score from 6.8 to 6.9. The corrections neither changed the levels of system capability/capacity by country, nor the overall results and conclusions of the report by target/dimension of the public health microbiology system.”

Pilot project - Observer countries
• NMFP Observers and their alternates have been invited to participate in the 2015 EULabCap survey
• 2 out of 7 current EU enlargement countries expressed their readiness for participation and already submitted their data
– Serbia
– The former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia
• Country reports will be prepared comparing their individual outcomes compared to the EU/EEA countries scores
