Depression is…?• Depression may be described as feeling sad,

blue, unhappy, miserable, or down in the dumps. Most of us feel this way for either a short or long time, sometimes even whole life time.

The Signs Of Depression• Feeling Hopeless • You feel that life is passing by• You want to be left alone or you want to be with friends• You get that really empty feeling• Loss of interest in activities you one enjoyed• You have difficulties sleeping or if you wake up you cant

fall back asleep• You spend a lot of time thinking what you have done

wrong• You may have thoughts about suicide of feel that life isnt

worth living

Physical Symptoms Of Depression

• Changes in weight and you either feel like “stuffing” your face with food, or you feel like not eating at all

• You feel restless and fatigue

• Physical aches and pains

• Feeling of emptiness

• The rate of increase of depression among children is an astounding 23%

• 15% of the population of most developed countries suffers severe depression.

• 30% of women are depressed. Men's figures were previously thought to be half that of women, but new estimates are higher.

• 54% of people believe depression is a personal weakness.
