General InformationCOURSE DESCRIPTION/HIGHLIGHTSA wide spectrum of topics in CHF/heart transplant, coronary artery diseases, cardiac arrhythmias, preventive cardiology and valvular heart disease among others. In keeping pace with current demands we will continue to offer ABIM modules in CV diseases for purposes of maintenance of certification. This year we have also added an ABFM Self-Assessment Module as well as an ECG Breakout Session.

COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVESUpon completion of this course, participants should be able to:• Apply the latest cardiovascular

(CV) guidelines to improve overall morbidity/mortality rates.

• Demonstrate practice changes to reduce care costs for patients with obesity and heart disease.

• Explain guidelines to increase preventive care for patients with CV diseases.

• Review indications, use, and limitations of advanced device therapy for Congestive Heart Failure (CHF).

• Apply current guidelines for anticoagulation in the treatment of atrial fibrillation.

• Explain how to use new anticoagulants in atrial fibrillation and DVT.

• Apply current guidelines in the treatment of ventricular tachycardia.

• Identify barrier-preventing application of CV guidelines.

• Recognize appropriate criteria for coronary revascularization of moderate/ill-defined angiographic lesions.

• Analyze the indications for using LAA and PFO occluder devices.

• Explain the current indications and contra-indications for TAVR.

INTENDED AUDIENCEIntended for practicing adult cardiologists, cardiovascular surgeons, cardiovascular trainees, general internists, family medicine specialists, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and nurses with a cardiovascular interest.

CREDIT College of Medicine, Mayo Clinic, is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

College of Medicine, Mayo Clinic, designates this live activity for a maximum of 20.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ (17.75 for General Session and 2.25 for ABIM or 4.5 for ABFM). Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Please Note: You may claim either AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ or ABIM/ABFM points. You may not claim credit with both organizations.

Application for CME credit has been filed with the American Academy of Family Physicians. Determination of credit is pending.

This program has been accredited by the American Osteopathic Association for 20.25 credits of AOA Category 2-A.

You are urged to make reservations early. A limited block of guest rooms have been reserved for attendees with a special course rate of $225 (plus tax) single or double occupancy per night. Group rates will be honored 3 days prior and 3 days following the course dates, based upon space availability.

To receive the special rate, call (800) 826-4180. You must make reser-vations before the room block is filled or by the expiration date of July 11, 2013.

Reservations will be taken following this date based upon resort room avail-ability, at the contracted meeting rate. The resort fee is $18 per room per night and includes complimentary self-parking, high speed internet access in the guest rooms, access to the spa, nightly turn down service with bottled water, and local/800 phone call access fees. Maid and bellman gratuities are optional and are to be paid at the individual guest’s discretion. Attendees are responsible for their own reservations. The standard hotel reservation cancellation policy will apply to individual reservations unless otherwise specified.

The Enchantment Resort is located about two hours north of Phoenix, temperatures average 20 degrees cooler than the Phoenix area in the summer.
