Dr. Gary BernsteinThank you, Dr. Bernstein, for performing the first endoscopy in Rivas, Nicaragua and for completing over 500 procedures for the people we serve. You are an invaluable team player who works and works

and works and is always the last to leave each day.

Dr. Salim Matar

Thank you, Dr. Matar. You have performed surgical procedures for patients who have been turned away by others. Large goiters are no challenge for someone dedicated to providing quality medical services for those who need it most.

James O’Connor, CEO St. Charles HospitalThank you, Mr. O’Connor. Your generosity allowed us have instruments for our cleft palate and lip surgeries and revisions. You have modeled support of Blanca’s House for your staff. Because of you, Rivas, Nicaragua has their first lap chole equipment.

Thank you, Mr. Roberts, for allowing us to bring a young mother from Ecuador to Mather Hospital for rare, life-saving surgery. The support of the staff in the OR is amazing. We saved a life because of you.

Congratulations to my wonderful and generous husband, Gary. I am so lucky to be married to a terrif ic husband, father, son, son-in-law, and doctor all wrapped up in one tidy package. Even af ter 26 years you still make me swoon. And to Salim and Cindy, thank you for being our f riends, neighbors, travel partners, pet sitters, and all around good hearted people. We have laughed together and cried together and it doesn’t get any better than that. I am grateful beyond words to know you.

Why Blanca’s House?

Inspired by childhood memories of his mother caring for friends and family, nurse anesthetist

Galo Burbano was determined to use his training to bring

medical care to underprivileged children in his native Ecuador

and other third-world countries. To best serve the poor and sick

of that nation and others, Galo Burbano founded

Blanca's House, in honor of his mother.
