What is BioShield® 75 antimicrobial product protection?

BioShield®75 is a long-lasting, sprayed-on surface protectant used in conjunction with normal cleaning procedures to greatly reduce or eliminate the buildup of MRSA, Type A Influenza (Swine Flu), E. coli, Salmonella, mold, etc. It is effective on nearly any surface, including cutting boards, countertops, door handles, walls, locker room floors, restrooms, gym mats, etc. The list is nearly endless!

Page 3: BioShield 75 And Biofilm Prevention Mwbs

www.MidwestBioShield.com

How does BioShield® 75 protection work? BioShield®75 forms an odorless,

colorless, completely NON TOXIC microscopic “bed of nails” on a surface and punctures the cell wall of microbes that land on the surface, and then electrocutes the microbe.

All of this happens mechanically, so the microbe is unable to build up an immunity to BioShield®75. This protection lasts a minimum of 90 days, no matter how often the surface is wiped down or cleaned. In fact, normal cleaning is necessary to maximize the effectiveness of BioShield®75.

Without normal cleaning, dirt buildup, paint, dead microbes, etc. will build up a layer of film that prevents the “bed of nails” from coming in contact with the microbe and killing it.

What is a microbe?

A microorganism or microbe is an organism that is microscopic (too small to be visible to the human eye).

The study of microorganisms is called microbiology. Microorganisms can be bacteria, fungi, archaea or protists, but not viruses.

Micro-organisms are often described as single-celled, or unicellular organisms; however, some unicellular protists are visible to the human eye, and some multi-cellular species are microscopic…..

What is a microbe?

Microorganisms live almost everywhere on earth where there is liquid or water.

Microorganisms are critical to nutrient recycling in ecosystems as they act as decomposers.

However, pathogenic microbes can invade other organisms and therefore cause disease…….

What types of microorganisms does BioShield® 75 protection work

against? BioShield® 75 protection is effective against most

common bacteria, yeasts, molds and fungi that cause stains, odors and product degradation. Here’s a brief list:

MRSA Staph Type A Influenza (Swine Flu) E. coli Salmonella Ringworm Mold Mildew Athlete’s Foot Shigellosis

Page 10: BioShield 75 And Biofilm Prevention Mwbs

How do I know that BioShield® 75 is safe?

BioShield® 75 is also USDA Accepted for use on food contact surfaces…..

BioShield® 75 technology has undergone extensive independent laboratory testing and has a long history of safe use.

It is registered with the EPA for all applications in which it is used.

Page 11: BioShield 75 And Biofilm Prevention Mwbs

Does this mean I don’t have to clean my products as much or as

carefully? No. in order for BioShield®75 to be most effective, normal

cleaning needs to be continued. Cleaning wipes away dead microbes and other dirt that can cover up BioShield®75’s “bed of nails” and diminish its’ ability to kill microbes landing on the treated surface.

What is the difference between BioShield® 75 and other antimicrobials

on the market?Conventional products penetrate living cells and kill by way of poisoning or chemically altering the organism. They are designed to act quickly and dissipate quickly to avoid adverse effects to humans and animals due to their toxic ingredients.

Most commercial antimicrobials used for treating building surfaces do a great job of getting a quick kill on bacteria and fungi, although most have a limited spectrum of effectiveness.

Heavy metal based antimicrobials, such as silver ion may leach into the environment and lose their effectiveness over time.

BioShield 75 takes a totally unique approach. It provides long-term control of growth on treated surfaces. The surface itself is modified to make it antimicrobial active.

BioShield 75 helps to prevent BIOFILM BUILDUP….

Page 13: BioShield 75 And Biofilm Prevention Mwbs

www.MidwestBioShield.com

What is Biofilm? Biofilm is known to exist on any porous or

non-porous surface, where factors for microbial growth are suitable, including pH and temperature.

The propensity for microorganisms to form biofilm on surfaces presents a formidable challenge to maintaining sanitary conditions, especially as it becomes more established.

The resistance of biofilm to sanitizers increases over time as the film matures…..

Page 14: BioShield 75 And Biofilm Prevention Mwbs

www.MidwestBioShield.com

Biofilm is a Major Cause of Antimicrobial Resistance

Biofilm is a microscopic layer of dead microbes, paint chips, dirt and other debris that build up on a surface and breed the growth of harmful bacteria like staph, MRSA, Swine flu, etc.

80% of all human infections are caused by biofilm….

Biofilm Development over time

In this time lapsed sequence, a Gram-negative bacterium (Pseudomonas strain S61) was allowed to develop as a biofilm on glass slides immersed in nutrient medium containing 1% glucose.

Attached cells can be seen at 3 hours. They then divide and form micro colonies. After 5 hours the development of polysaccharide is clearly seen (note the arrows) and it increases as the micro colonies increase in size.

Imperative For Biofilm Control in specific settingsExample – Healthcare and Hospitals

In the United States, it has been estimated that as many as one hospital patient in ten acquires an infection while in the hospital, or 2 million patients a year.

Estimates of the annual cost range from $4.5 billion to $11 billion and up.

Hospital-contracted infections contribute to 99,000 deaths in the U.S. each year.

One third of hospital-contracted infections are considered preventable.

hospital-contracted infections can be acquired due to surface contact

Resistance to antibiotics continues to escalate….

Does BioShield® 75 begin working immediately?

• YES! BioShield®75 protection begins working as soon as it is sprayed on and left to dry. • BioShield® 75 begins to work as soon as the microorganism comes into contact with the product surface.• It then works continuously to maintain a consistently lower bio-burden than would be expected on a surface without BioShield® 75 protection.• Under the right conditions, microbes on an untreated surface can double every 20 minutes!• BioShield® 75 is not a disinfectant and is not a substitute for normal cleaning practices……

Page 20: BioShield 75 And Biofilm Prevention Mwbs

How long does BioShield® 75 protect a surface?

BioShield® 75 is engineered to provide continuous antimicrobial product protection for ninety (90) days or greaterninety (90) days or greater, keeping the products in your home or business cleaner, fresher and safer from harmful bacteria for longer than ever before…..

Page 21: BioShield 75 And Biofilm Prevention Mwbs

Is BioShield® 75 safe to be used in food preparation and around

people and animals? BioShield® 75 is the only EPA Registered product that is also USDA Accepted for use on food preparation surfaces like cutting boards, countertops, containers, appliances, etc.

Extensive testing and a long use history have shown BioShield® 75 to be safe for humans and other mammals. When BioShield® 75 is sprayed on a surface and while wet, it is only as toxic as one-tenth of a Bayer aspirin. And when dry? Completely non-toxic!

And while it is impossible to say that no one will ever experience an allergic reaction to anything, it is highly unlikely a negative experience would be observed…..

Page 22: BioShield 75 And Biofilm Prevention Mwbs

Does the use of BioShield® 75 cause resistant strains of

microorganisms? NO! Unlike traditional cleaning products,

BioShield®75 is NOT a poison. It kills microbes mechanically, so there is no opportunity for the microbe to adapt and build up an immunity to BioShield®75, making it the perfect product for long-term surface protection!
