What is BEWISE Breast Augmentation?

BEWISE: The Consultation

During the initial consultation, Dr. Smith will discuss with you your goals and desires for the procedure.

He will also show you before and after photos of patients who have undergone the procedure to demonstrate the desired size and shape of the breasts.

The final size and profile of the breast implant used will be perfected at the time of surgery by using a “temporary implant” or sizer.

Dr. Smith encourages all patients to stop smoking and to stop taking any medications that would thin the blood or interfere with light anesthesia required for the surgery.

BEWISE: Day of Surgery

One the day of your surgery, marks will be made in the axilla in the natural skin crease, to demonstrate the position of the concealed incision. The incision is typically less than one inch and is barely noticeable several weeks after surgery.

Through the incision, a pocket is created underneath the pectoralis muscle to hold the implant in place.

The final implant is placed after careful determination of the size and profile.

The incision is closed with absorbable sutures and skin glue.

BEWISE: After Surgery

Patients are seen in Dr. Smith’s office the following day and again three and six weeks following the procedure.

A comfortable sports bra is worn until it is comfortable to go without a bra at night and to wear a regular bra during the day.

Patients can resume normal activity right away, while recreational and gym workouts can resume after two to three weeks.

A period of three to six weeks is needed for the breast tissues to relax and to allow the implant to naturally drop into its final position.
