• Others say that it is not true.
Who is right?

In fact, a medium sized banana contains about 27 grams of carbohydrates (e.g. sugar)
How about sugar and weight gain?
It is not so easy ...
In general sugar causes weight gain as its excess is transformed to fat, which is stored by our body.
But ...
There are foods which release glucose (sugar) rapidly and cause sudden spikes in glucose blood levels. These are said to have a high glycemic index and they are responsible for fattening.
On the other hand ...
There are foods which release glucose (sugar) slowly and do not cause sudden spikes in glucose blood levels. These are said to have a low glycemic index and they are responsible for weight loss.
Examples of high glycemic index foods
• White bread • Popcorn • Baked potatoes• Melons• Pineapple • Rice• Instant oatmeal• Etc.
Examples of low glycemic index foods
• Most fruits including bananas• Sweet potatoes,• Pasta• Vegetables like carrots or
tomatoes• Converted rice • Etc.
Bananas are weight loss foods
If eaten with moderation (max. 2 per day)
