If you could remember any plant in the world, it would probably be the aloe vera plant. After all, it is one of the plants that we are most familiar with. I’m sure that you’ve seen the name as a primary ingredient on a great

deal of cosmetic products that you’ve bought before. It’s too bad that very few people actually understand that this 3500 year-old plant can give them beautiful glowing skin. Traditionally the plant has been used to treat wounds, burns, and skin abrasions. And many medicine men on the continent of Africa still use it strictly for that purpose today. While others such as Cleopatra, used aloe vera gel as a beauty regimen to moisturize her

skin. The Greek physicians used aloe vera for illnesses from skin burns, to constipation, to kidney failure, even for ingestion and ulcers. There are over two hundred species of the aloe vera plant known to man with many

skin benefits.

Use aloe vera to treat acne.

Hormones play a significant role in acne breakouts. People going through adolescence tend to experience significant shifts

in their hormones. This causes the skin to over-produce a natural moisturizing lubricant called sebum. Sebum is a

lubricant designed by mother-nature to keep the skin moist. However, when sebum is overproduced, it becomes oily and

greasy

It hardens and thus clogs up the glandular canals. This results in hard red bumps that are sensitive to the touch and unappealing to

the eye. Sadly, adults are starting to suffer from acne breakouts as well. Stress, bad diets, and over-exposure to radiation and

toxins cause hormonal imbalances, thus resulting in severe acne breakouts.

If you get the occasional pimple, you might want to try squeezing the gel from an aloe vera leaf. Rub it gently over the pimple and watch it

shrink in size. If you’re a teenager and are experiencing severe acne breakouts. You may

want to try drinking aloe vera juice twice daily. Also, you may want to consider doing a master

cleanse

or all natural detox to rid your body of excess toxins. Aloe vera is great for the skin because it contains the hormones Auxin and Gibberellins. Both hormones are used for medicinal purposes

and have healing and anti-inflammatory properties. Gibberellin in the aloe vera leaf works

as a growth hormone, allowing the skin to heal naturally with minimum scarring.

It’s inevitable! We are all going to wrinkle. However, we can work to minimize wrinkles by

taking a few precautions. First, we must remember to always wear sun-screen. Harvey Simon, in his

article Skin Wrinkles and Blemishes, states that 90% of strong lines and wrinkles are caused by excessive exposure to the sun. In fact, the skin actually has two solid layers. The outer layer

consists of hardened skin cells that protect the body from external elements.

The bottom layer contains a protein called collagen, which gives skin its firmness and elasticity. Over-

exposure to the sun, as well as pollution, smog, and toxins begin to break down both layers of the skin. The top layer begins to sag from lack of moisture.

While the bottom layer weakens and loses its structure do to the decrease of healthy collagen. Deeply drawn wrinkles form when both layers of

skin are badly damaged.

Harvey Simon also goes onto to say that Americans spend 12 billion dollars a year on face cream and age reversal cosmetics. Many people are simply

unaware that aloe vera is a cheaper and safer alternative to treating wrinkles. Aloe vera contains a great deal of antioxidants including vitamin C and

E. Both vitamins can repair damaged or deeply lined skin, reversing the aging process, and making

the skin softer and smoother.

Aloe vera works to restore moisture from sun damage on the outer level of the skin. For

maximum effects, be sure to purchase 100 % aloe vera juice, or other formulas and tinctures that are all natural. Many other formulas may

be highly diluted, or contain a great deal of “other” ingredients that might further damage the skin. Many people also find joy in growing their own aloe vera plants and decide to just

purchase the seeds.
