1. Teeth are like fingerprints.

• Everybody has a unique set of teeth, just like their

fingerprints. Even identical twins don’t have the same

exact set of teeth. Your tongue print is also just as unique!

• Back in the past when dentures weren’t yet invented,

dentists would actually do a quick surgery to implant teeth

into the mouth of a person who didn’t have any. Where did

the teeth come from? Dead people!

3. Left handed or right handed?

• Have you ever wondered whether the hand you write with

affects your teeth? It can, but not in the way you might

think. Right-handed people tend to chew their food on the

right side, while left-handed people tend to chew their

food on the left side.

• Some people just hate flossing. In fact, 73 percent of

Americans would rather go grocery shopping than floss.

It’s a shame because if you don’t floss, you missing

5. How long do you brush?

• According to the Academy of General Dentistry, the

average person only brushes 45 to 70 seconds. The

recommended amount of time is 2 to 3 minutes.

6. Tooth decay vs. the common cold.

• The longer you let the remnants of your last meal remain

in your mouth, the greater the chance for tooth decay.

With that said, the second most common disease in the

United States is tooth decay. The first is the common cold.

7. Changing your toothbrush.

• After you experience a bout with the flu, cold, or other

viral infection, you’re supposed to replace your

toothbrush. Notorious microbes can stick to your

toothbrush bristles, which can then lead to re-infection.

• Due to dental related illness, children lose more than 51

million hours of school each year. That’s why it’s critical to
