We all know that feeling of losing control. We know the

remorse and that guilty feeling when we walk away and we

realise we have over reacted. We all know what that feeling

is… ‘mother guilt.’

I have been treating many women in my clinic this month who have

‘mother guilt,’ that is they are feeling so overwhelmed,

exhausted and emotionally empty that they lose the ability to filter their frustration and their words

before they come out of their mouths.

I want to share with you three tips to maintain control of your

emotions. I share these with you like I do my patients, with love,

not to inflict the guilt any further.1. Know when to ask for help, there is no such thing as a super woman, not in your grandparent’s generation or your mother’s generation or NOW.

2. The washing can wait, rest when your children rest! Sleep deprivation can result in your brain and hormones not working as well as they need to, do not feel angry about being sleep deprived, instead take control and sleep when your children sleep.

3. Self nurturing – walking away just for 10 minutes, repeating an affirmation, getting some light exercise or having a cuppa in the sunshine can do wonders to regain perspective.
