STI CONTACT TRACING & GP RESEARCH
NSW SEXUAL HEALTH INFOLINE
Aims:1. To educate and promote the
sexual health of the community.2. To facilitate efficient use of public
funded sexual health clinics. • Staffed by team of 4 nurses:
– sexual health clinical experience (CNS)
– Phone competency assessed– Annual phone line training
• Computerised database and web based resources.
• Database of SHC business hours and skill mix.
NSW SEXUAL HEALTH INFOLINE
2009/2010: 6, 200 calls in NSWGSAHS:
• 86 community calls• 21 health professionals
• 5 doctors, 9 nurses, 7 allied health
• Provide triage and administration support (freecall transfer).
• Info and support to STI contacts/partners.• Extend clinical support: new GPs, doctors and nurses, allied health staff.
• Training courses –schools, TAFE, uni, allied health, GP.• Commercial outlets-entertainment, fashion, hair and beauty, pharmacies, tourism.
• Business schools-trades, mining, industry, hospitality.
• Use number to add on to media releases.• Outreach to youth, aboriginal, welfare and corrective services.
