We run children’s rhymetimes and storytimes in every library

Thirty of our libraries are Tourist Information Points

Library Direct with the help of 189 volunteers delivers books to269 people in their own homes9 care homes2 hospitals1 hospice.

We hire meeting rooms to local organisations

Around 166 000 Surrey residents use the library, and around 350 000 are registered members

Our Performing Arts Library has twice won the prestigious IAML award

We run a “Digital Friday” programme to encourage learning and innovation

We can provide books almost any language, from Afrikaans to Welsh

People with dyslexia borrow our Barrington Stokes books.

We’ve got 6612 ebooks, FREE to borrow.

We offer FREE access to the internet in all our libraries. we have 383 terminals for public use

with a wide range of frequently updated software including Minecraft, and accessibility

software.

We run prison libraries at Send, High Down, Coldingley, and Downview.

Children with homework can chat live to a librarian using our online “Homework Help” service.

Most of our libraries offer display space to local artists and groups.

Our work with survivors of domestic abuse won an award in 2013.

We have a collection of reminiscence materials that helps people with dementia.

We have Vaughan Williams’ baton, glasses and conducting stand.

We’re proud to say we offer free wifi in all areas of our libraries, all day.

Wifi use increased by 366% last year.

We run workshops for Surrey small businesses.

Did you know there are now six library apps?

We have 15 “Friends of the Library” groups, 7 Local History volunteer groups, and are

supported by around 500 volunteers.
