Reconsidering some assumptions about the interviewing environment

Towards more child-centred investigations

Where we are…

Where we are…

Where we are…

“I thought it would be more modern like police stations on the telly, but when I saw this I didn’t really want to go into it.”

Where we are…

“If something had happened to me in my own home, the worst thing I can think of would be to come to somewhere that looks like my own home, and this looks like my own home.”

We asked the children and they said…

“It’s like someone’s tried to make a

family environment and failed miserably.

If you can imagine someone living here

it’s like a 90 year old woman who’s

obsessed with cats.”

“Don’t be clichéd. Make it better.

There’s nothing worse than

getting there and it not being as

good as you think, and there’s

nothing better than it being better

than you expect.”

We asked the children and they said…

Where do we want to be?

Where do we want to be?

Where do we want to be?
