Introduction Former USAA executive and San Antonio resident Dawn Johnson is currently

focusing on her charitable affiliations. Dawn Johnson sits on the board of directors of both the San Antonio Clubhouse and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) fights against the blood cancers that impact the lives of thousands of patients in America. Most types of blood cancer are not preventable and are very difficult to detect early. This makes finding cures for these life-threatening conditions all the more important. LLS focuses on research areas with specific unmet needs, and allocates funding to the most promising research projects.

In addition to providing regular grants, the LLS Biotechnology Accelerator Division works with leading biotechnology companies to expedite the development of new therapies. It funds projects including Celator Pharmaceuticals' CPX-351, also known as VYXEOS. This therapy is in the third phase of clinical trials, and is being evaluated for use in older patients with secondary Acute Myeloid Leukemia.
