HINARI serves developing country health agencies

Launched as a web portal in January 2002, WHO and major

health sciences publishers established HINARI to enable low-and-

middle-income countries to gain access to full text biomedical and

health literature. 13,000 journals in 30 different languages,

29,000 eBooks and many other resources are available to

registered health institutions in 100 countries.

Meant to support the MDGs framework of the Health

InterNetwork, introduced by the United Nations' Secretary General

Kofi Annan at the UN Millennium Summit in the year 2000.

Who is eligible to register for and use HINARI?

HINARI Core Offer includes two groups of countries, areas, or territories (Group A and Group B)

Local, not-for-profit institutions may register for the Core Offer of HINARI, based on four factors: Total GNI (World Bank figures), GNI per capita (World Bank figures), United Nations Least Developed Country (LDCs) and Human Development Index (HDI).
