Ways Chapters Fund Scholarships
1. Chapter designated funds in operating budget.
– Scholarship funding is defined in the chapter’s annual operating budget as a line item.
– Raised through annual fundraising efforts that are not specifically requested for scholarships.
– Can be awarded to any or all chapter’s seniors or made more long-term and awarded to each student for a set period of time.
Ways Chapters Fund Scholarships
2. Special campaign for scholarship funding.
– Scholarship funding is defined in the chapter’s annual operating budget as a line item.
– Scholarship funding is secured by asking donors specifically for SCHOLARSHIP funding.
– Funding secured in this manner is RESTRICTED to scholarships regardless of whether you give them out that year.
Donor Stewardship for Scholarships
• Name a scholarship after a donor.
• Invite the donor to join your scholarship committee.
• Invite the donor to your scholarship awards ceremony.
• If your chapter receives memorial gifts from someone who died, consider asking the family if you can honor the person by giving a scholarship in the name of the deceased.
Endowing Your Scholarship Funds
• TeamMates Foundation
• Provides an investment vehicle for TeamMates Chapters.
• Chapters may open an account and invest any amount. • In July of each year, the chapter may choose to take a
5% net asset withdrawal on the chapter’s account balance.
• Funds can be used for anything but many chapters choose to fund their scholarships with their Foundation account.
