We live on the INFORMATION AGE. OK. And what do we do now?
Every day, we live thousands of challenges.
Which is the best way to go to work today?
Which is the healthiest food?
From personal challenges...
What should we do with global warming?
...to global challenges.
How is the government using public resources?
Challenges that could be better solved if we all had access to the adequate information.
Wouldn't it be easier to choose your means of transport if you knew exactly which are the fastest, cheapest, less
polluted, more efficient options?
Or choose between candidates or government programmes having as a base the track record and the detail of public
resources management?
We, from Open Knowledge Brazil, believe in a world where information is open and available to make more aware decisions about our lives, what we buy, who we vote for.
A world where information and knowledge are available for everyone.
The good news is that this revolution is already taking place.
It has never been so easy to search and share information around the world.
Never before so many data have been collected and analysed.
It is essential to strengthen communities, create tools and develop abilities that help turn information into knowledge.
The future is OPEN!
Open Data has value when combined with citizen necessities. This means that Open Data should
support improvement of citizen's life.
The Open Knowledge has been a key player in the promotion of the best
practices and opening of Governmental data.
