Introduction• In 2015, Baton Rouge dentist, Dr. Nick Rauber, took home the New

Dentist Award for his commitment to leadership within the dental industry. Well known as an advocate for public service, Dr. Nick Rauber has plied his trade as a volunteer in many organizations, including Give Kids A Smile Day.

Give Kids A Smile is a nationally recognized children’s day that gives kids across the United States access to dental care. Launched nationally in 2003, the program was originally a product of the American Dental Association, though many states have adopted the organization as an umbrella to organize and track current screening, treatment, and education programs already in place for at-risk populations.

One Smile at a Time

• Each year, Give Kids A Smile, works with sponsors and volunteers to collect donated dental products distribute the items to programs nationwide. In Louisiana, dentists open up their practices to provide oral health education and demonstrations to the public and conduct free diagnosis and treatment for children.
