Tram as an opportunity for bicycles

The tram was the dreamed occasion do re conquer a part of public space for pedestrians dans cyclists

Since 1996 designing bicycle infrastructure is compulsory when you renew an urban street or road. But it's not always done, and when it it's done it's not always well done.

We discussed which type of infrastructure will fit

Not only infrastructure, directions too

Created infrastructure

- bicycle lanes

- one directional cycle paths

- bi directional cycle paths

- one shared space

- cyclist allowed on the rails

- pedestrian areao open to cyclists

Bicycle lanes

Bicycle lanes

Out of 2 lanes for cars

Cycle paths

One way cycle paths

What was here 2 years before

Pedestrian area

Pedestrian area : what was here before

Cyclists allowed on rails

Combining bicycle and the tram

Bicycles allowed in the tram in dedicated areas, when not crowded

Folding bicycles always allowed (in trams and in buses)

Folding bicycles

Non folding bicycles

Here : in the front of the tram

Sometimes it's better to make the entire trip by bicycle

Combining bicycles and public transport

Parking facilities on every stop

5 free and secured « bike and ride » parkings

Parking bicycles

20 bicycles per stop

Sometimes a little bit too far

It doesn't matter...

… if bicycle facilities replaces parking for cars

Buslanes in Paris
