Our mission:

To transform Governors Island into a vibrant resource for NYC with extraordinary public space, educational, not-for-profit and commercial facilities.

Page 9: Leslie Koch on Governors Island for the Smithsonian, 2015

In 2006, the question was:

What will Governors Island be? Sometimes phrased as:

“Where is the master plan?”“Is anything ever going to happen there?”

9

Page 10: Leslie Koch on Governors Island for the Smithsonian, 2015

• What does NYC not have?*

• What should happen first? • Why would anyone come

here on a Sunday?

Instead we asked:

10

* * And does it make sense on an island?

- Jennine Willett, artistic director of Third Rail,

as quoted in The New York Times
