Granite is available in abundance.
Proposed Free Trade Warehousing zone- Investment USD147.08 million.
The Government has acquired 600 acres of land for the establishment of an Industrial Township at Narasapura.
The Suvarna Karnataka Development Corridor envisages the creation of an Apparel Zone, IT/BT Zone, Automobile Zone.

Water The only seasonal river in the district is
Palar which flows across Kolar district. The ground water level has dropped to
alarming proportions that immediate measures are required to restore water table. This can be done by connecting network of tanks in Palar basin.
Power While power generation is receiving
continuous boost from time to time, power transmission is efficiently managed by Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited.
Kolar has a solar power unit with a capacity of 3 MW in Yelasandra. This is the biggest solar power unit in India.

Tourism Kolaramma temple: A Thousand year old
temple built by the Cholas. The temple itself has beautifully carved statues and designs all done using the abundantly available granite stones.
Someshwara temple : The temple is situated in the heart of Kolar town. Lord Shiva is worshipped as Someshwara. The temple is built in the 14th century Vijayanagara Empire early Vijaynagara style.
Nawab Fateh Ali Khan Darga in Kolar town.
Antharagange: Located 3 Kms from Kolar, is a sacred stream known for its scenic beauty and its varied flora and fauna.
Mulbagal: a popular tourist stopover, the Anjaneya temple, Sripadaraj Matha, the Kurudamale temple and the tomb of Hayder Vali are a few attractions found here.

Textiles:
• A dedicated Apparel zone is planned in the district along the Suvarna Karnataka Development Corridor.
• District also hosts a handloom cluster and a readymade garment cluster making the sector very vibrant in the district.
• Kolar has a dyeing and printing (silk) cluster in Kolar.
