Clarification for our newer members: Dryden Rotary Charity Foundation members are elected through our Rotary

Club of Dryden membership. Members meet quarterly or as need arises to review applications. We are governed by very stringent lottery license rules which we need to adhere to. Applications are often reviewed by the city lottery license clerk prior to our meetings so we have a clear understanding on which applications can be considered.

Up-to-date; concise financial reports are available for our quarterly meetings which are prepared by a Rotarian.

Discussion and consensus is agreed upon on these applications and recommendations are brought to total membership for a vote at next weekly Rotary meeting.

Monies are collected primarily through Dryden Rotary Charity Foundation Bingo held weekly on CKDR from October to April, as well as some funds collected through using the Charity license to run bar services such as Shaw Walleye Masters, Shake Your Booty, etc.

For our newer members … ‘Foundation’ is also used to describe Rotary International Foundation.

The Rotary Foundation (International) transforms your gifts into projects that change lives both close to home and around the world. As the charitable arm of Rotary, they tap into a global network of Rotarians who invest their time, money, and expertise into our priorities, such as eradicating polio and promoting peace. Foundation grants empower Rotarians to approach challenges such as poverty, illiteracy, and malnutrition with sustainable solutions that leave a lasting impact.

DRYDEN ROTARY CHARITY FOUNDATION

Dryden Rotary Charity Foundation (DRCF) is a foundation working with the Rotary Club of Dryden to benefit the residents of Dryden and other communities in the area. DRCF receives the bulk of its funds from the proceeds of Radio Bingo operated on CKDR in Dryden. The income is distributed as grants to registered charitable organizations or charitable non-profit organizations that primarily benefit the citizens of Dryden and the surrounding communities.

To be eligible to receive funds, your organization must first have charitable purposes and objects that fall within one of the four classifications of a charity:

A. The Relief of Poverty B. The Advancement of Education C. The Advancement of Religion D. Other Charitable Purposes Beneficial to the Community, not falling under A, B, or C.

This may include:

arts and cultural activities;

cultural, ethnic, native, historic or heritage pursuits;

the improvement of the quality of health through medical research; treatment programs and preventative programs;

youth sporting activities and community projects undertaken by service organizations.

Page 8: Dryden rotary foundation 2014 one million

Your organization must also demonstrate that for a minimum of one year, you have carried out charitable activities that provide a direct benefit to Ontario residents, which are consistent with your mandate.

We request that you submit a copy of your formal documents which constitute your organization including Letters Patent, constitution, and/or memorandum of association. Informal associations that have not adopted formal written constituting documents are not eligible.

DRCF will review applications four (4) times per year. Applications should be mailed to P.O. Box 514, Dryden ON P8N 2Z3 and received on or before January 31, April 30th, July 31, and October 31 of each year.

You are free to provide additional material with your application or we may request supporting documentation in order to properly assess your application.

The Board of Directors will meet to make a decision on your application, and you will be notified in writing of the decision.
